Suffer From Depression

  Suffer From Depression

There are many misconceptions about depression. People often believe that depression is pessimism, laziness, or just a negative personality trait. It's not. People think that depressed people are attention seekers. They think that if a person looks on the bright side of life or leaves home, everything will be fine. The thought comes from ignorance. People with depression may need things, but what we don't need is your ideas or other silly notions about what depression really is and how it can be cured. If there is a person who really needs something, it must be someone who does not suffer or have to deal with depression.

Depression is terrible. It's a monster that follows you everywhere you go. Inside and outside. It can be covered with a smile or even a laugh, but it's still there. You can't concentrate. There are even times when someone is talking and you can't hear them because of the voices in your own mind. Imagine a cold, isolated, dark hole where you are cut off from everything until you feel helpless every day. As someone who has experienced depression, I can say it's like trying to breathe underwater. There are good days and bad days, and bad days make you question why you exist. You feel humiliated. You don't have the energy to do anything, and socializing becomes a chore you hate. All you want is to be alone and sleep. Sleep and cry. Sleep to death. , or death. When you finally find the courage to admit your illness and seek help, it's not an overnight fix. The depression lasted almost four years. I take three different medications. trial and error. Some are now working until they leave. Some are not used at all. Some have an unbeatable side, like nightmares where you wake up screaming. Others experience loss of short-term memory or any sensation. You don't always know they have stopped working until you have recovered from depression. There is no point in explaining how you feel to other people, because people who have never experienced chronic depression say they understand, but they really don't. It's impossible.

What people who are not depressed need to do is realize that depression is a real mental illness. It can be sudden or continuous. This is not a mood swing. It's not always about being sad. Depression affects the whole body, not just the mind or spirit. About 16.1 million US adults aged 18 and older experienced at least one major depressive episode in 2015 alone or 6.7 percent of all American adults. Youth depression increased from 8.5% in 2011 to 11.1% in 2014. Do you really believe that these people are depressed because they don't have friends or because they have to leave home?
