A good mood is like a bright smile, it's very contagious. Happiness flows easily from one person to another. It is natural to feel happy in the presence of people who radiate joy and laughter. The same domino effect starts again when you come into contact with someone who expresses negative emotions such as anger or sadness and despair. After some time, one comes to the same situation. Psychologists have a name for such behavior - social contagion. According to this theory, the behavior or feelings shown by one person can cause the mood or behavior of others.
The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that nearly 300 million people worldwide are affected. This disorder is a major cause of morbidity and mortality. It increases serious health problems like diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease.
Depression and low mood are often the same things. However, while "blue feelings" are the result of temporary changes in emotional balance, depression is a serious mental illness that usually occurs during prolonged periods of sadness. A recent study looked at the specific differences between depression and low mood and came up with surprising results. According to research, there is no depression with mood swings.
Distinguish between depression and low mood, For the study, researchers analyzed data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to adult health for conditions related to mood. Seven common symptoms of depression are also considered - anhedonia or loss of interest in daily activities, lack of motivation, clarity of daily activities, chronic sadness, weakness, helplessness, and fatigue. Participants' mood and depression scores were assessed using the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D). Scores based on responses to questions range from 0 to 54.
