1. Headache
If you suffer from headaches, allspice is a good natural remedy to try. It is an analgesic, which means it is a natural pain reliever because it helps numb the nerves. Allspice is also known as a relaxant that can help calm your mind and body. You can also try the herb St. John's wort, which is also very beneficial for the prevention and treatment of headaches, migraines, and fevers.
2. Nausea
Do you feel nauseous? Have a warm cup of fresh ginger tea, sip ginger beer or chew fresh ginger. This common household spice has been proven to be very effective in relieving nausea and indigestion and is even safe to use during pregnancy.
3. Cough
Thyme is the herb you seek out if you have a cough or sore throat. It has strong antimicrobial properties and contains thymol and carvacrol to help loosen mucus. Mix warm water with 1 tablespoon of fresh or 1 teaspoon of dried thyme. Leave to infuse for 10 minutes and then drain. For best results, drink 3 cups of thyme tea daily.
4. Cold
If you have a cold, rub a few drops of peppermint or eucalyptus oil on your chest for instant relief. Their cooling effect will help soothe a cold. You can also try drinking peppermint tea to relieve congestion. However, keep in mind that eucalyptus can be toxic and therefore should not be consumed without first diluting it.
